Reflection

A friend of mine called this time of year “the season of light” and I tend to agree.  We have the change of season at hand, a renewal, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza and other holidays (holy days) that reflect this.  This is a magical time of year.

This time of year is about reflection.  When I hear the word reflection, I also hear thoughtfulness, meditation and nurturing.  It would be great if we all honored this and gave ourselves the space necessary to do that.  Ironically, we have been led into thinking that we must be stressed, extra busy and broke buying stuff.

I encourage people today to put the brakes on a bit and reflect on the last 364 days.  Envision the next 364.  Did you accomplish your goals last year?  Were you as open and kind to those around you as you could have been?  What will you do, be or have this year?

I say this because it would be unfortunate at the end of our life to look back and say “I was too busy to live the life I really wanted or love the people in my life”.

In the end, it is the things that we didn’t do that bring us regret.
