Wow.  I feel like I have grown so much since the year 2000.  For some reason, I thought that every idea that traversed my brain was genius.  In one of these moments of sheer brilliance I almost handed over $10,000 to a company that takes advantage of stupid people who think they have brilliant ideas.  Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you:

The Sock & Underwear Organizer  

After many days of brainstorming and much deliberation, I decided to call this sock & underwear organizer the “Sock & Underwear Organizer”.  The idea is that the user places clean socks and underwear in the appropriate sections labeled clean socks/underwear.  The dirty side has a built-in removable hamper that one conveniently takes to the wash.  I remember thinking that this was my million dollar idea and also part of the reason that I don’t smoke weed anymore.

I found this yesterday when I opened up a post office sealed envelope that I sent for copyright purposes but didn’t write what it was on the outside.  I laughed out loud when I opened the mystery envelope.

I am grateful for shows like the Dragons Den or Shark Tank because they give inventors or newbie business people an opportunity to look objectively at their possibly great or shitty ideas.  I can just hear all of the Dragons with a resounding “I’M OUT” as I walked off set with my head down.

I know that I am making fun of myself in this post but I am grateful for all of the ideas that have come through my brain.  Each one taught me the importance of acting on an idea.  Talk is fucking cheap.  Action is what brings results.  In the end, you may find out that it wasn’t a good idea but at least you have some funny pictures and that experience will only assist you in becoming smarter and clearer the next time.  And the next and the next and the next.

It’s called failing your way to success.  Edison was asked why he didn’t just give up after failing to invent the light bulb over 4000 times.  His response was, “I didn’t fail 4000 times, I just learned 4000 ways how not to do it.  I am only looking for 1 way how to do it.
