Charlie Sheen

How could I resist posting about my brother Charlie Sheen?  Although, this isn’t really a post about him.  Charlie is however serving as a great example of how easy it is for what my friend Reid calls “T.V. people”, to become distracted.  Seriously, 42 days after planes smashed into the World Trade Centers in broad daylight I could have waved a shiny object in front of America’s face and heard “oooooh, what’s that?, it sparkles!”  Vendors were selling 911 T-shirts in front of ground zero for fuck sakes.

God bless America.

Charlie Sheen stuck his neck out in questioning the “official” story.  What immediately caught my attention, conspiracy theories aside, was the “pulling” of building 7 by lease holder Larry Silverstein.  Engineers from all over the country came forth to state on record that it would take approximately two weeks to accurately set the explosive charges in order to take down a building that size.  Two weeks?  Larry Silverstein’s insurance payout was approximately 7.1 billion.  Not bad.

Meanwhile over seas in the middle east, the people are in revolt against oppressive regimes and fascist dictators.  Here, our collective hive mind is occupied with the latest celebrity media musings.  I feel that the problem on this side of the planet is that we don’t have a clear picture of what we’d revolt against.  Faceless entities like the government in general, corporations and a looming financial crisis cannot be pinpointed to a specific location in order for an arrest to happen.  Regardless, more and more people are waking up everyday.

Charlie seems to be having fun with the media and he’s saying things that most celebrities shut up about so in that, I hope he takes it up a notch.  I too am winning!!!

In the meantime, I suppose that having a scapegoat/distraction makes some of us feel a little better about our own powerlessness, mediocrity and  short comings but, oh shit, sorry I have to go…

Two and a half men is about to start!!!
